What are your favorite kitchen backsplash ideas?
by Heather Robins:
Personally, I like any kind of kitchen backsplash that grabs your attention or makes you look twice. Yes, white subway tiles are nice, but I really only like them when there’s something else taking center stage in a kitchen (like vibrantly painted cabinets).
Now, that’s not saying subway tiles can’t be eye catching. These metalic green tiles are simply stunning. By simply altering the color, the backsplash becomes a statement instead of a backdrop.
Like your photo, I love the patchwork tile backsplashes. They’re just so unique! The idea of not having a pattern is quite intriguing to me. That’s what makes patchwork so fun!
There are a few things I love about this design. First, the color and shape. Hexagon tiles are just too cool to me… and I could stare at that color all day. However, what I love even more is the top where the tiles end. The tiles could have stopped at the shelf or even been cut off to form a straight line. Instead you have a little more visual interest with the staggered edge. So cool!
I’ve only ever seen glass backsplashes online, but I love the idea of them. So much color and a smooth surface! Sounds like a win-win.
I think my all-time favorite backsplash idea is using wood tiles. There’s just something about the texture and color that I love. I would certainly suggest never using wood tiles with stained cabinets, but they can look so amazing with painted ones!
